CryptWriter is a small text editor that lets you save files in an encrypted format. I wrote it so I had a way to store information that I didn't want the other people using the computer to read, but yet to be able to access it quickly myself. Whenever you save a file, you will see a small dialog box asking you for a password. Type in a password here, and the file will appear as garbage unless you use the same password when you open it. Remember your password - there is no way to decode your data if you lose it!
Text can be entered using standard Macintosh procedures. The font, size and style can be changed to make it more aesthetic; however, this version does not allow you to alter these for individual words or characters. If you select "Save unencrypted" from the "Encrypt" menu, the file will be saved without any encryption, and you will not be prompted for a password when you save or open it.
This program is freeware. Use it all you want, and give it to anybody who might be interested. I hope it's useful!
